Forever

Shroud my eyes and shield my ears,
What you say I shall not hear.
From the day you left me,
It has been far past a year.
Yet the fire still burns,
And is fueled by each passing glance.
A stranger with a different name,
A different life, a different face.
The anger has settled, the pain is gone.
I want, but I want no more.
I feel, but I touch not.
Your actions as real as the blood on my hand,
The memories as clear as the scars on my arm.
I used to count the days until your return,
I now count the drops until the end.
Forever shall be my release, my escape.
As you stand above me, silent and solemn,
Just remember I never forgot.
